--- So, you remember how I promised to show you guys my process? Here we go; remember these?
Which were based on the client's initial description: "The Sentinel- This Earth skill is acquired through participating in the various guard schools and positions throughout the world. A sentinel eventually becomes so apt at protection that he is able to stop any advance or retreat from his position. This is a side of what the Earth element does: control. The card stops another character from leaving the performing character's zone. I envision a sturdy warrior with a spear in hand, standing beside a closed gate. He is raised up on a ledge of stone, maybe his waist is even with the heads of the people passing in front of the gate that he is protecting. He is eyeing them suspiciously, looking for any trouble makers."
Well, when I sent my client the thumbnails, this is what they had to say: "Sentinel: I like the upper-right thumbnail. Could you make the doors extremely tall behind him? I like the depth but I think the doors need to extend upwards (and the rest of the castle) out of view to give the impression that he is guarding the front gates to some warlord's castle. Also, please make it look like its made from brick. The stone castles are very reminiscent of the medieval era."
--- So, I took another hour and a half or so to hash out better details and values in greyscale before starting in on the colors and then, three hours later, this is what you get; about five or six hours in all, enjoy!

P.S. I'm thinking about maybe uploading process GIFs if people think they could benefit from them, let me know if you're at all interested.
Wow, this looks so cool (and a tad intimidating—not someone I'd want to run into!) It kinda reminds me of a bridge from Legend of Zelda; but all in all, amazing artwork as usual. The only thing I would possibly critique on is the positioning of his left weapon—I kinda doubt that anyone would be holding a heavy weapon like that in such an upright pose, but that's just my thoughts on it all. But still, great artwork! (And His outfit is really awesome too!)
Thanks!
