silhouettes by WestlyLaFleur silhouettes by WestlyLaFleur
--- the last time i tried to do a silhouette study was awhile back and they looked like garbage, i'm wondering if these look any more professional - typically i know by tomorrow morning depending on whether or not i hate them. let me know what you guys think!

I found this definately one of a kind in terms of originality because I don't think any try doing a study for this. And they all have a good form and whatnot as well. though the top left on could have a more even tone to make it more realistic and professional silhouette. Other than that though, great job, and keep it up. I hope to see you do more of these silhouette studies in the near future. Because these overall are very good at the least and could still be improved a little bit. It would be a great help for others too.
What do you think?

Whoa. I would love to see any one of these in a more detailed illustration. The each silhouette brings a very cool creature/ship to my imagination, which fills in the black area all on it's own. The only one that I had some trouble with was the second from the left, bottom, which threw me off mainly because everything else is a creature while upon closer inspection I decided it was probably a sci-fi motorcycle. It's kinda formless, and a different angle, perhaps even a dreaded profile would emphasize details that would make it more obvious.

Numbering the doodles would probably help as well for easier referencing.

Ooo. I like what you got here, and I'm not sure if I'd want to them filled in to find out who or what they are. It has a mystique about them that not only intrigue, but gives a threatening aura in their own way.

i'm not sure if you're aware, but it's a method often used in industrial design to lay down lots of ideas quickly. thanks as well ~ C:

I get that, it's just in my mind I could see where you could with these, how great they'd look if you go in, and make them into a finished piece. However, there are times where I'll see a work in progress, and there be a point that I might like more then how it looks finished. For me, at this point I like how they are, and I'm just not sure if I'll like the finished works more or not. It sounds silly I know, but sometimes some works don't need to be finished.

i understand, the rough stuff has more energy and often a better capture of the mood, plus i suck at finishing my stuff to begin with so. ;p

I know what you mean, right now I'm working on something photoshop, trying to get a grip on as I haven't work with it all that much, and I'm not entirely sure on it. Though the only thing one can do is continue to work at it, and hope to get better.
